General Description
The primary role of the Food Pantry Staff is to participate in all aspects of the food pantry and handle clerical and receptionist duties as required. These duties include and are not limited to all aspects of procurements and distributions of food such as pick-up, storage, organization, and distribution of food to tribal and community members in need of assistance.
Minimum Qualifications
High School degree or GED
Previous customer service or other work-related experience.
Knowledge of warehouse safety, storage practices, and inventory preferred.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve in a quick and timely manner.
Ability to address, investigate, and resolve complaints and concerns from the clients or cus-tomers in a timely manner.
Requires a high level of personal integrity and ethics.
Must have a clean driving record and be able to drive a tribal vehicle as required for com-pletion of job duties.
Demonstrate flexible and efficient time management.
Job Responsibilities
Assist in maintaining adequate food supply to provide the best quality food for Delaware Tribal members and community each month within the budget.
Stock warehouse and ensure all food is sorted and stored in a safe and sanitary manner.
Inventory food as necessary.
Utilize FIFO inventory practices to ensure food quality and minimize waste.
Organize and oversee food distribution process.
Maintain a clean, well-ordered warehouse and property.
Must be certified in food handling safety standards.
This position requires walking, standing, sitting, and lifting boxes up to 80 pounds.
Assists in reporting requirements including monitoring inventory and temperatures of the refrigerator and freezer.
Clean and wipe down shelves as well as cooler shelves. Restock pantry as needed
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This position lifts heavy objects, walks, and stands for long periods of time. The employee lifts, pushes, pulls or carries objects. The position requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and coordination. The employee must have excellent stamina.
